The top five spots in the Big Sur Half Marathon were decided by less than a minute, with Elisha Barno earning the win along the waterfront in Monterey, California.
His time of 1:03:04 was just over 30 seconds off the course record.
More than 6,500 runners completed the race.
Macdonard Ondara came in a close second at 1:03:31.
Karim Elmabchour (1:03:54) finished just a few steps ahead of Scott Bauhs (1:03:56) for third.

For the women, it was Kara Goucher (1:11:13) winning with ease.
Goucher holds the record for fastest half marathon by an American woman.
Simegn Abnet Yeshanbel earned runner-up honors with a time of 1:12:47.
Kristen Zaitz (1:13:02) repeated in third, finishing just ahead of Hellen Jepkurgat (1:13:18).
