Grant Bell bested close to 800 runners to win the REVEL Rockies Marathon, just outside of Denver, Colorado. Bell finished the downhill run through a Rocky Mountain canyon in 2:29:34.26. Second and third-place finishers, Chaiwat Engtrakul (2:33:39.91) and Kory Cool (2:35:18.81), both came in more than 12 minutes ahead of the next wave of finishers. For the women, it was Bethany Erickson finishing first with a time of 3:04:01.82. Anna Hailey (3:05:29.29) held off Irene Altman (3:07:32.82) for second.
Some 1,700 runners were unable to run the race after dozens of buses contracted to transport runners up to the starting line failed to show. Of the nearly 400 participants that did finish, it was Matthew Kline coming out on top with a time of 1:21:06.83. Brandon Swenson (1:22:00.97) finished less than a minute behind Kline, and just over 30 seconds ahead of John Humphreys (1:22:32.36) for second. For the women, it was Taylor Robinson winning a tight race between the top three with a time of 1:26:04.43. Runner-up Elena Gomez (1:27:31.71) narrowly clipped Christy Mclaughlin (1:27:59.37) for second.
